The Doña Ana County Utilities Department has started a wastewater improvement project in Chaparral to upgrade the area's sewage system. Work on Edna Drive began on April 28 and will continue through July 8. Crews are installing new sewer pipes and manholes to make the wastewater system more reliable.
This project will benefit Chaparral residents by providing better and more efficient services. The work will be done in phases. The contractor, Smith Co., will start digging on West Lisa Drive and in the De Lara Estates area to install new sewer pipes, manholes, and services for homes.
Construction on West Lisa Drive is now scheduled to begin in early June and continue through October. This phase will include digging up the roads to install the new sewer infrastructure.
Drivers are asked to plan for delays, follow the posted signs, and stay safe while passing through construction zones. Detour routes will help guide traffic around the work areas.
Although the project has set dates, the timeline may change depending on the progress of the work.
